Final Storyboard.
I made one mistake whilst putting my storyboard together, I missed out one of the rules, so I put it in at the end but when filming it will be in the correct order.

Progress on Soundtrack
After listening to my selected songs over and over I decided
that I was aiming too high and that I almost defiantly wouldn’t get a response
from any of the charts artists. But I remember that I was thinking about asking
Will Campbell if I could use his song 'Rise' so I approached him and he said
yes! Which is brilliant and means that for my trailer I have my soundtrack
sorted.
Storyboard ideas...
This post shows my storyboard and some details about why I've chosen to do certain scenes.
In my trailer I want there to be a series
of quick ‘flashes’ of times that the two main characters ( Ben and Sophie) have
spent together. The reason for this is I want to show the audience that the two
characters have grown up together and have stayed close throughout their whole
lives. I also want to try and show the viewers that Ben is in love with Sophie
but isn’t letting on as he just wants her to be happy so doesn’t tell her a
thing.
At this point in my storyboard i realised that my storyline is rather
elaborate and that it will take a lot of manpower ( actors aged from toddlers
to adults) and this could potentially be really hard to do.
SO
I’m
going to take the next couple of days to try and find the amount of actors I
need and if I can't. I’m going to have to rethink or maybe just tweak my initial
storyline but if i can I will finish off the storyboard from this point on.

Ideas for my soundtrack
For my trailer I thought it would be best to look at the UK
Charts for inspiration. My reasoning for this is that I've decided that due to
the fact my film is a romance film the type of song/s playing in the background
of the trailer should be something up-beat and possibly very cheesy and I do
believe that is what the 2015 charts have to offer. I would also like the song
at some point to have a climax like some of the ones in the trailers I looked
at previously did.
2. What do you mean By Justin Bieber
3. Locked Away By R City ft. Adam Levine
4. Easy Love by Sigala
5. Can’t feel my face By Weekend
6. On My Mind by Ellie Goulding
7. How Deep Is Your Love by Calvin Harris & Disciples
8. Do it again By Pia Mia ft. Chris Brown & Tyga
9. Runnin’ By NaughtyBoy/BeyoncĂ©/A Benjamin
10. Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself by Jess Glynne
Sam Smith's song Writing on the Wall is an elegant song however, it is far too slow and dramatic for my film if not actually the complete opposite.
Justin Bieber's What do you mean is a potential, it up beat and 'poppy' and the lyrics of the song are talking about how the actions and feelings of one person contradict themselves resulting in the other person being confused about how the other feels for them. The lyrics of the song match the plot of my film so if I am able to get permission for this song I would defiantly like to use sections if not all of it in my trailer.
R City ft. Adam Levine's song Locked Away is sort of the right song. There are elements of the song that I think would be really fitting for example the running theme of insecurity in our flaws and about unconditional love, these themes do also run throughout my film so it is lyrics appropriate. But from what I've seen in trailers as the footage is the main focus to actually hear what the lyrics are saying you have to focus on them not what's happening in the trailer which is why I’m hesitant about using this for my trailer.
Sigala's song Easy Love is another good example of what I had in my head before looking for ideas, again like Justin Beiber I do think it'd be really hard to get permission to use this song but if I could I would. It is upbeat, fun, about love and has a sort of drop over the chorus which I can envision going over a certain part of my trailer. The lyrics from this song are also appropriate and I think at certain parts of my trailer I may attempt to make them the main focus of the scene. (Providing I get permission.)
Weekend's song Can't feel my face is again an upbeat 'poppy' song but I think it's too lively for my storyline. It's the backbeat its too 'jump-up' and I just don't think it would work as well as some of the other songs I have looked at so far.
Ellie Goulding's song On My Mind like Weekend's song isn't right for my trailer, the back beat of the song has a very strong jumpy base throughout and I think it would disrupt the flow of the trailer. If it was only over the chorus I would consider using it but it seems to be throughout most of the song. Furthermore the lyrics are about not having feelings for someone and being rather bitter about it and that isn't the impression I want to give off about my characters.
Calvin Harris&Disciples' song minus the chorus would fit, I think the chorus needs to be a bit faster in pace, its a slow and dramatic dance song but I like the underlying question how deep is your love, because I could easily apply that to my two main characters as throughout the storyline they are questioning how much do they really love one another and what sort of love is it.
Pia Mia ft. Chris Brown & Tyga's firstly lyrically is all wrong, its about a one-night stand which is the exact opposite to my trailer's storyline. Secondly the song is swaying from 'poppy' to rap and even though most rap songs are about love, this storyline is more suited to pop than rap.
NaughtyBoy/Beyoncé/A Benjamin's song Runnin' at first I didn't like the sound of but if you skip to just before the chorus and then after the chorus I think potentially I could use this song, its got an upbeat chorus, but afterwards its slightly slower and dramatic but I can picture it fitting with the scenes in my trailer. On the other hand not the lyrics so much, they're about losing yourself and someone you love which I guess I could make work but I'd rather my audience think that the storyline wasn't about loss of love.
Jess Glynne's song Don't be so hard on yourself would be good for my trailer I think, It starts off with a strong happy beat and it continues throughout the whole song. I like this because It will imply to the audience that it's a cheerful film not filled with doom and gloom. If I was to use this song I think I would have it as an instrumental, not that I don't think the lyrics would be appropriate because they would but because I think it's a lovely bit of music and actually just doesn't need the lyrics over it to give off the effect that I'd want to have.
On a final note
Last week in lesson we were watching the year 10's music video's and one really stood out and it turned out that he has created the song and sang it himself. The song was similar to the ones I've spoken about above and I think I am going to ask him if I can use his song for my trailer.
The reason I'm doing my soundtrack planning so early is so that if its the case that I don't get a response from the producer or they say no I can then work on finding another song or even produce my own alongside with my brother. If I was to leave it till last minuet and they said no I would end up either having a song I don't want to use or a silent trailer.
The top 10 currently are: (02 October 2015 - 08 October
2015)
1. Writing on the Wall by Sam Smith2. What do you mean By Justin Bieber

Title Of Film
Initial ideas for the title of my film/trailer.
After coming up with a few a handful of ideas I thought I would narrow it down to my favourite five and then write a questionnaire asking the public which one they like the most. My reasoning for doing this is so that I know that the public will like the title maybe meaning it will be most memorable. I decided to do my questionnaire thorough the website SurveyMonkey. By using SurveyMonkey I will be able to get my questionnaire to a larger range of people as I can post it on social media websites, for example - my twitter account. But I can also email it or text it to my friend to get them to answer it and I have done all of the above.
Thanks to you
It's short but sweet and implies that maybe one of the protagonists has done something amazing for the other character. I deliberately used the word 'Thanks' not 'Thank You' as 'Thanks' is informal and more personal giving it more of a casual, personal feel to the film.
The Next Chapter
This title follows the storyline in how it follows the characters through their lives in to the 'next chapter.' Is also short so may be more memorable compared to some other film titles.
Rules and Regulations of Friendship
This title is slightly more comical, it implies that there are rules and regulations of friendships which is a way there are. There actually are unwritten rules of friendships, like how some say there's 'bro-code' between guys and 'girl-code' when you become friends with a girl but as far as I know there aren't any unwritten laws about boy to girl friendships and this film could be an answer to it, showing what is appropriate in this type of relationship and where the line is.
Building Blocks
Any form of relationship, friendship or romantic there are always different stages and things that move you up to the next or different level. Some could argue that these are the building blocks of the relationship. I think this would be an appropriate title for my film as it works alongside the storyline of Ben and Sophie's relationship with time.
If Only
This title fits in with Ben's side of the story his longing for Sophie but her being slightly out of reach. It could also imply to the viewer that the storyline may not be a typical fairy-tale ending, giving the film an element of surprise which may in fact make the film more appealing to any potential consumers.
CHOSEN TITLE: Rules and Regulations of Friendship
Using my survey results I have chosen the title of my film! - Rules and Regulations of Friendship was the most popular, not by far but was the winner.
My Questionnaire https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/9GV3T38
Analysis of results
Above are the results from my questionnaire. I had the questionnaire up for a week before deciding to count in the data. Unfortunately I didn't get as many responses as I was hoping for, only 14 in total. Even though it is a small sample size I can still take it into account when choosing which title I go for. The results are fairly equal. three titles having the same average as one another! The title that was most liked was Rules and Regulations of Friendship, this didn't take me by surprise as it is the most playful title so I expected it to be the favourite. On the other hand, Building Blocks got the worse score and I am actually shocked by this I thought it would score higher than a 2 on average, but the public know what they want!

Inspiring Trailers
Before choosing whether or not I even want a soundtrack to my trailer I thought it would be best to have a look at some trailers within my genre and see what sort of songs, if any they use and what effect it has on the trailer itself.
Seeing as in my planning I focused a lot on Love,Rosie it seems like a good place to start.
In their trailer they use two separate songs to show mirror the events as they unfold throughout the film.It starts off with The 1975's song Chocolate which comes under the genre of Indie Rock, its an upbeat playful track, if this track was a person they would be carefree and bubbly and these traits reflect the relationship between the two main protagonists at the beginning of their lives to their later teenage years (graduation, 18 years old) but when things start to get more serious in their lives and their friendship becomes more complicated Olly Murs' song Right Place, Right Time fades in. Even the song title suites the second half of the trailer as it seems that the two main characters never seem to be in the right place or time for one another. If this song was a person they wouldn't quite be content with their own life, pining over something/someone just out of reach.
P.S I Love You's trailer is different to the others that I've looked at I starts off with a self-produced instrumental and as the trailer reveals more of the storyline it fades in "Breathe" by Michelle Branch but as an instrumental. The combination of the two gives off an overall glow but at the start when the music fades out it does so quiet suddenly almost to show how the female protagonists life changes. In a way this is sort of the same as Love,Rosie it mirrors the storyline in the soundtrack.
Miss You Already isn't quite in my genre but after watching the trailer I really like the compilation of songs. It starts off with a basic instrumental but is then ( as I newly discovered) followed by not one, but two songs.
- All American Rejects - There's a place
- R.E.M - Losing My Religion
Titanic is a historical romance as the story is set in 1912 but the film was released in 1997. The soundtrack to the trailer is Southampton by James Horner it is a classical instrumental and in my personal opinion it is beautiful and I think it was used as it fits the time period of the film. A stereotype about classical music is that its old and loved by old people so the producers of the trailer probably used this track to boost the context of the film.
From looking at these five very different trailers and how their soundtracks compliment the scenes i'm still unsure on how many songs I would want to include but I think it's helped me choose what type of song I should include.
