All trailers will be specifically aimed at their target audience. Some genres have wider target audiences than others for example action and adventure films use a film example of Indiana Jones I know that it is loved by ages ranging from 5 years old to 60 years old. On the other hand certain genres like Horror, its target market will be much more niche as the plots and content will not be appropriate for younger ages.
If a film has a larger target audience they are able to address all ages by using different techniques throughout the trailer; they're able to use editing techniques,stars or where the air the trailer. If the film was a children's film they would air it on children's TV channels or before a new child's film in the cinema, not on a channel like comedy central as the audience for comedy central is much older.
